How the crochet method works
Crochet braids are installed by looping curly, wavy or straight hair through a cornrowed base using a small latch or crochet hook. The hook method secures hair in place without sewing each track, so the visible texture comes from the hair you choose. The cornrows set the foundation and determine placement, parting, and how the final shape sits on your head.
Price starts at $150, and the installation time changes with length, fullness and chosen look. Hair is included in our starting price, though clients are welcome to bring their own if they prefer a specific brand or color. Your stylist will advise on density choices because more fullness requires more hair and can increase both cost and time.
Selecting hair and look
Curly, wavy and straight crochet hair each behaves differently in humid summers and cold New England winters. In Pawtucket’s climate, curly looks can loosen with humidity while straighter textures may show frizz in damp weather. Because hair is included, we can match textures on-site; bringing reference photos helps stylist choose a texture and cut that fits your daily routine and local weather.
Price starts at $150 and varies with length, fullness and the look you want. Longer or fuller styles use more hair, which raises the material and installation time. Tell your stylist about desired parting, face-framing, and how often you want to restyle; those preferences change how we build density and select the exact hair pieces to deliver the look.
Appointment practicalities in Pawtucket
Appointments are scheduled for a 180 MINUTES session to allow braiding and crochet installation without rushing. Fanta African Hair sits along the Cottage Street corridor, convenient for I‑95 commuters or MBTA riders heading to Providence; early-morning, lunch, evening, and weekend times can fit work shifts or family schedules. Bring time for a short consultation when you arrive so we can confirm texture and fullness.
Because hair is included, you do not need to bring extensions unless you have a specific brand or color in mind. If you bring your own hair, arrive slightly early so we can inspect the hair and plan density. After installation, styling choices like cutting or shaping are handled on-site; discuss any follow-up appointments with your stylist during the consultation.
